41st Annual Parade of Lights
#VenturaStrong
The 2017 Ventura Harbor Parade of Lights & Winter Wonderland incorporated philanthropic aspects into the 41st Annual Parade of Lights tradition in response to the Thomas Fire that has impacted dozens of communities.
- The Ventura Post District invited emergency and local fundraising organizations regarding the Thomas Fire to have a booth to increase awareness, answer questions and gather donations. We were so grateful to have representatives from Ventura County Community Foundation and Red Cross join us on Friday night at Parade of Lights.
- The Ventura Port District offered free carnival rides for the local community kids and visitors children ages 12 and under on Friday, December 15 from 5-7 PM.
- The Ventura Harbor joined in the Thank You Letter Project #ThomasFire to write letters of gratitude to firefighters and first responders associated with the battle of the Thomas Fire. 235 postcards of thanks were collected at Ventura Harbor Village and are being sent to the various fire stations per the Thank You Letter Project.
-
At the Boaters Award Brunch on Sunday, December 17 the participating boaters offered portions of their prize winnings as well as voiced a contribution from the overall award prize money be donated to the victims of the Thomas Fire. Thank you to our generous and kind-hearted winners!
Wish Upon a Star
Ventura Harbor Village provided visitors the opportunit to post their holiday wishes on a 6ft+ heart displayed on the Village Promenade to provide an outlet of healing. By the end of Saturday night, the heart was COVERED in stars. Most wished for the well-being of the Ventura community and safety of the thousands of firefighters from Santa Barbara County throughout Ventura County #VenturaStrong.
