Pirate ship replica
June 22 - August 5, 2022

A stunning 1768 pirate ship replica, The Devil’s Gauntlet, has sailed in town!

Visitors can see the beautiful ship docked at “D Dock” (located on the water nearest Costal Cone Ice Cream). The boat is not open for tours at this time, but for now you can admire the boat from the public promenade above the ship.

NOTE – the ship may come and go for trips to nearby ports. Pirate ship sighting can not be guaranteed.

Pirate Ship History

The Devil’s Gauntlet was built in Piller Point, CA in 1968! The hull was built out of iron/cables from the big towers of the San Francisco golden gate bridge, surrounded by Kevlar composite Polymer built to withstand the elements and time. It was built as a replica of the famous Sultana, which was built by the British to protect the coast of Massachusetts from pirates in 1768.

She spent her life in the San Francisco bay calling Brisbane, CA her home. The second owner used her to raise his daughter and host children’s birthday party’s and events, from then, she was bought and sold many times with nothing ever being fixed or repaired sad to say. The sultana due to no maintenance decayed and was at the brink of being sank to destroy her,

Current owner/designer/captin, Daniel Blevins Catalano aka Pirate Dan, bought the hull in December of 2018 and towed her into the Delta loop in Stockton, CA to start her rebuild/remodel and new life as a real sailing pirate ship. The Devil’s Gauntlet you see today is a 16 month build – everything hand made and everything one hundred percent new. She has passed her USCG hull and equipment, safety inspection in San Diego CA at 100 percent.
