You are invited to celebrate Kids to Parks Day at an event on May 18, 2019 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Channel Islands National Park Robert J. Lagomarsino Visitor Center in the Ventura Harbor.

Kids to Parks Day, a national day of outdoor play hosted by the National Park Trust, encourages families to explore and celebrate America’s public lands and waters. This free family event includes activity stations where children can learn about the plants, animals, and history of the park.

Concurrently, the park and Channel Islands Park Foundation will be hosting a beach cleanup of the Ventura Harbor Cove from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. To participate, volunteers must sign up and attend a brief safety orientation. Participants are encouraged to bring their own buckets and reusable gloves.

Several ranger led programs will also be offered at the visitor center throughout the day, including tide pool talks at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm and a special children’s program about the adaptations of seals and sea lions at 1:00 pm. Children will also have the opportunity to participate in and earn badges for four different Junior Ranger programs.
