Celebrate Mermaid Month with Ventura Pottery Gallery artist Sue Barry, who will be demonstrating her clay techniques inspired by the ocean and natural world. Originally from New Zealand, Sue has spent more than 20 years working in clay, creating beautifully detailed decorative tiles and sculptural bowls that feature rich colors, carvings, textures, and light-inspired reflections.

During the live demo, Sue will show how she presses clay into sprig molds and applies them to tiles. Guests of all ages will have the chance to try the technique themselves by creating a small koi fish piece. Ventura Pottery Gallery features work from 40 local artists and will also be showcasing ocean and mermaid-inspired ceramics throughout the gallery during Mermaid Month.
