Lunar New Year marks the start of a new year based on the lunar calendar, a dating system based on the monthly cycle of the moon’s phases. It is the most important holiday in China, and it is also widely celebrated in South Korea, Vietnam, and countries with a significant overseas Chinese population. Each culture celebrates the Lunar New Year differently with various foods and traditions that symbolize prosperity, abundance and togetherness. Here are several ways to celebrate with us here in Ventura Harbor:
1. Feast with your family and loved ones! Pick up fresh fish or takeout your favorite Harbor food. Fish is typically included in a Lunar New Year’s Eve meal for good luck. CLICK HERE for fish market options or CLICK HERE for Village restaurants.
2. Pick up a vibrant outfit from a Village Boutique. People dress in vibrant color for the Lunar New Year because they’d like to bring good luck with them into the changing seasons. CLICK HERE for shops.
3. Refresh your space with new art & décor. Winter cleaning, reorganizing, and decorating is common to bid farewell to the old year, and welcome in the Lunar New Year. Browse our coastal boutiques and get inspired. CLICK HERE for galleries & more.
Ventura Harbor Village will also have a talented guitarist on the Seaside Promenade stage this Sunday from noon to 3pm (weather pending). He will be playing music from all over the world, including a few Chinese songs to celebrate.
