Coastal Cleanup Day

All September long, Californians are encouraged to help keep our beaches and waterways clean.

Two ways to participate in a Coastal Clean Up:

  1. Meet at Harbor Cove Beach (1998 Spinnaker Dr Ventura, CA 93001) at 9am on September 18th. Gather your supplies (help reduce waste by bringing your own bucket, gloves, water bottle, hat, etc.), print and sign the waiver. Pre-registration is not required!
  2.  Can’t make it on September 18th? Sweep through your own neighborhood, local park, or trail any day in September on a self-guided cleanup. Use the free CleanSwell data collection app to track and report your cleanup. For more guidance on neighborhood cleanups see here.

However you choose to volunteer this year cleaning our beaches, rivers, and neighborhoods provides a valuable service to the coast and our communities alike.

Fun Facts:

  • Over 1.6 million volunteers have removed over 26 million pounds of trash over the past three decades in what has become the largest and one of the longest running annual volunteer events in the state.
  • Ventura County Coastal Cleanup Day 2019 was a great success! 3,795 volunteers participated and picked up 17,327 pounds of trash and recyclables. Statewide over 74,000 Californians cleared more than 800,000 pounds of trash from shorelines and waterways – all in a matter of hours.
