International Women’s Day Feature: Nathalie Krolicka at Golden Hour Goods
Published March 5, 2026
Golden Hours Goods is a new coastal boutique located in Ventura Harbor Village. Owner Nathalie Krolicka, who was born in Germany, began her retail journey with a pop-up shop in the Harbor Village and has now officially opened her first brick-and-mortar store. Golden Hours Goods is proud to be part of the Ventura Harbor Village’s vibrant retail mix and seaside art scene. Here’s a deeper dive into Nathalie’s journey as a business owner in Ventura Harbor Village:

1. What cultural influences from Germany still show up in your work or aesthetic?
Germany gave me a strong appreciation for quality, structure, and timeless design, which shows up in how detail-oriented I am. Being raised by a single mom instilled a strong work ethic and independence early on, and that foundation is still a big part of my work.
2. What’s one challenge you’ve overcome as a woman in business – and what advice would you give to other women dreaming of starting something of their own?
Starting a business as a woman in a new country meant navigating cultural differences while learning to trust my own voice. My advice is to lean into courage over perfection – the American “just do it”-mentality taught me that momentum matters more than waiting for the perfect moment. Sometimes new & scary opportunities arise even when you don’t feel ready – just like opening Golden Hour Goods! Saying “yes” to this journey of being a shop owner aside from being a jewelry m aker was a big challenge, but I very much have a “best case scenario” outlook on life and business. Progress over perfection!
3. Golden Hour Goods has such a warm, intentional feel. How do your background and culture influence the way you curate your shop?
My background blends German thoughtfulness with California ease, creating a balance of intention and warmth. Being welcomed so openly into Ventura’s creative community has deeply influenced how I curate: with a focus on connection, story, and soul, while also prioritizing quality and crafts(wo)manship.

4. What’s been the most surprising part of opening a shop in a seaside destination?
What surprised me most is how carefree, happy & supportive our seaside-shoppers are. There’s a sense of openness and relaxation that makes building this small business feel genuinely supported. They come for a good time and enjoy browsing through our curation of handmade goods. I’m also surprised at the amount of beautiful sunsets/Golden Hours at the Ventura Harbor I get to admire daily!
5. When you think about the future of Golden Hour Goods, what excites you most?
I’m excited about expanding thoughtfully while staying rooted in what makes the shop feel personal and intentional. Collaborating with artists and makers, especially women, is an essential part of the future of GHG, so I feel proud to give many woman-owned businesses a platform to share their craft and grow together. I look forward to establishing the shop for people to know it as “That’s the spot where you find unique, locally made gifts!”
6. Have you experienced mentorship – or become a mentor – as part of your journey?
I’ve been shaped by many inspirational women throughout my life, with my mother being the greatest example of resilience and independence. Along the way, I’ve also found mentorship in community, especially among Ventura’s small businesses, and being part of the networking community “Ventura County Business Women” (VCBW) that promotes personal and professional growth. Occasionally I am asked for business advice too – which is an amazing reminder that people trust in what I do.

7. If you could define this chapter of your life as a woman in business in one phrase, what would it be?
Building with purpose, while redefining retail as a way to invest in creativity, community, and connection.
This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating Nathalie at Golden Hour Goods who has built her business with intention, quality, and a clear creative vision. Her commitment to collaborating with women makers and championing thoughtful craftsmanship brings vibrance to Ventura Harbor Village. We’re proud to celebrate women like Nathalie who are growing businesses, creating opportunity, and shaping the future of our seaside community.
